Figured out why I love Crosstown Trail!

Distance: 5.31 Km
Approx Time: 1h 20mins
Start: Sheltered Oak Ct., Oakville, Ontario

But it’s the sunshine and the feeling of bigness!!!

Since this trail is on top of a pipeline, houses and trees are at least 50 feet away. So, on a sunny day, you get lots of sunlight which is especially appreciated during the winter when the sun can be a welcome source of warmth.

The trail is well-shovelled and presents a beautiful, white pathway through the woods. There was not a single piece of litter along the route. This is a testament to trail users’ respect for the environment and their commitment to preserving the area’s natural beauty.

Crosstown trail offers a gentle and leisurely walk with no hills to speak of, and the occasional bench provides a chance to rest and take in the surroundings. Along the route, I encountered two children’s playgrounds, which are great for families with young children, and I went by 3 or 4 small ponds, offering a peaceful and serene escape from the trail.

One of those ponds had a large population of geese under a wooden bridge. I enjoyed staying a few minutes to watch them flutter around.

It should be noted that there are no washrooms along the route, so it is important to plan accordingly. Despite this, the Crosstown Trail is in excellent condition and when I went, it was shovelled the entire way. The trail was slippery in some parts, but my rule is that if it’s shiny, go around it.
