Mo’s Family Restaurant is a Local Favourite
I searched for restaurants that serve plain and simple spaghetti and meatballs in our area. I felt the nostalgia of going to Spaghetti Factory when I lived in Toronto. Do we have inexpensive spaghetti in Halton or Mississauga? The answer is YES! “Go to Mo’s Family Restaurant” was the advice I received on social media, and so I got my family and headed on over.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Mo moved to Canada as a young child. He has been in the restaurant business for 14 years. When Mo eats out at other restaurants, he enjoys simple dining and is less inclined to go to a fine dining restaurant. This love for a true home cooking experience inspired Mo to open up his own restaurant.
Just about everything at Mo’s Restaurant is made from scratch.
“I make simple home-cooked meals,” explains Mo, “no frozen meat patties.”
Of course, I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs, and let me tell you; the meatballs were almost the size of a 5-pin bowling ball! HUGE! The spaghetti sauce is made from scratch and is very flavourful. As a cheese lover, I was excited about the generous sprinkle of parmesan on top. Mo does not skimp – on anything!
My children ordered the “Mo’s Burger”, a massive double patty with cheese in between and all the fixings, including pickles, tomato, and lettuce. It tastes as good as it looks.
When I asked him what he considers his signature Supper dish Mo said, “Ah, the Souvlaki is a very popular dish here.”.
“You gotta come for breakfast and try my hash browns,” said Mo, “the hash browns are Jamaican style.”
Honestly, I can’t believe I’ve lived in Oakville this long and have never been to Mos’ Family Restaurant. My family was very pleased with their meals, and we all agreed that we would come back to try one of Mo’s famous skillets that include hash browns, eggs and hollandaise sauce. Depending on the skillet it could also have bacon, ham, sausage, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese!
