How it all began

Hey there, glad you stopped by! Let me tell you a little about myself. I hail from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, and I’ve had quite the adventure so far. I graduated from the Military Parachute Course back in 1989 and went on to earn an MSc in Computer Science and Mathematics from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1996. While at university, I spent every summer doing Artillery Training in New Brunswick.

During my 22-year stint in the army, I was lucky enough to travel to some pretty cool places. I’ve been to Petawawa, Gagetown, Camp Pendleton in sunny California, Wainwright, Bosnia, Kingston, and Toronto. But my journey didn’t end there. After 11 years in the Artillery, I moved to Army Public Affairs, where I got my Communications MA from Royal Roads University.

Big Decisions

Life took an unexpected, happy turn when my husband and I became the proud parents of twins. As both of us had jobs that involved travelling, we decided that one of us had to stay home. Since I was grappling with health issues associated with my Lupus diagnosis, it made sense for me to leave my career.

And when Covid struck, my health took a turn for the worse, and I soon had to undergo dialysis three mornings a week due to kidney failure. It was then that I knew my army days were done, and I had to find another way to help people.

The Idea for the Newsletter

As I started feeling better and my children grew older, I became more interested in going out and having fun. But the problem was, I always seemed to hear about events AFTER they happened. Can you relate? I mean, how frustrating is that?

That’s when I started doing some research on local events, hiking trails, and all the fun stuff happening around Halton and Mississauga. And you know what? I found so many cool things to do that I decided to share with my friends.

The more people I shared with, the more I realized how much fun I was having because of the newsletter. I was going out to so many places and events. And when relatives and friends visited, I always knew where to take them.

Soon, I started getting great feedback from subscribers who appreciated my work and felt like they were in the loop about all the latest happenings.

Today, I have around 600 amazing subscribers who love to get out and do things in our local area. I’ve been on many hiking trails, visited and written about many restaurants, and seen many shows and comedies. And you know what? I encourage my subscribers to do the same, and from the feedback I’m getting, they are!

So, if you’re on the fence about subscribing, let me give you a little nudge. Trust me, you’ll love living in Halton and Mississauga so much more if you subscribe. And not just you, but your friends and family too. We’re all about creating shared experiences and great memories here, so what are you waiting for? Sign up and let’s have some fun together!
