Spencer’s At The Waterfront – A Great Choice for Taste of Burlington
On a 16 degree sunny Sunday afternoon, we decided to try Spencer’s at the Waterfront.
My first impression of Spencer’s as I walked in the door was “modern nautical”. The outside patio and seats closest to the window resemble the deck of a luxury cruise ship. The atmosphere there is serene and peaceful and a great place to relax and view pedestrians walking along the Burlington Waterfront Trail.
Inside, beautifully varnished wood is on the walls and ceilings. Large globe lights above are encased in knotted woven rope resembling a fishing net. I was in love with this location even before I had my first taste of food.
While it’s not on the Taste of Burlington menu, my family just HAD to order the Oysters. They were freshly shucked and came with both a hot sauce and what looked like a red vinegar sauce. This appetizer was fresh, cold, and because it was such a treat, the entire family was very excited about what was coming next.
The taste of Burlington menu did not disappoint. Appetizers were so big that they were almost a meal in themselves. The Thai Curry Mussels were amazing. The mussels themselves were the largest I have ever seen. The amount provided in the appetizer was very generous. The Flatbread with Taleggio Cheese was tasty and also a sizable portion.
The Cavatelli Bolognese was delicious! It is served al dente and as a cheese lover, I liked how this dish had a wonderful blend of sauce and parmesan.
And let’s not forget dessert. Our wonderful waitress, Sasha, let us know that the meal options, including dessert, are made especially for Taste of Burlington and cannot be found on the main menu. With this knowledge, I will now suggest to anyone interested in going to Spencer’s to make sure to order the Hazelnut overload. The picture says all. It’s a wonderfully moist brownie with a decadent chocolate hazelnut drizzle with hazelnuts and raspberries on top. On the side is a scoop of hazelnut ice cream. The dessert looks amazing and tastes absolutely divine! For sure it’s the best brownie dessert I’ve ever tasted.
So overall, I highly recommend Spencer’s at the Waterfront for three reasons;
- The view and ambience,
- The amazing staff – friendly and knowledgeable servers, and
- The flavourful food.
I have already decided that this will be the place to go back to for our next wedding anniversary.
