Mississauga Steelheads

Local OHL Hockey

When my sister-in-law came to town with her 3 kids, I brought us all to see the Steelheads.

We were all amazed at the level of skill you can find at an OHL hockey game.  For many reasons, this a great idea for an outing for hockey-loving kids and adults.  And in the case of my children, popcorn-loving kids, since I’m not too sure they paid much attention to the game!

Steelheads games are easier to get tickets compared to an NHL game and much cheaper.  I love my children, but the cost of a Toronto Maple Leafs game make this a couples-only evening or at least a rare treat for the kids.

Wayne Gretzky began his career as a 16 yr old playing for the Soo Greyhounds in 1977!  And so it was no wonder that high schoolers in the Soo used to go and cheer the Soo Greyhounds even several years later when I was going to high school.

Now I can take pleasure in watching the Hounds play my new local team the Mississauga Steelheads!  Officially formed in 2012, the Steelheads is a much younger team compared to the Soo Greyhounds.  However, that just means the next Wayne Gretzky could be playing for the Steelheads right now!

The home of the Steelheads is Paramount Fine Foods Centre.
