Five Guys - So Good She Requested it For Her Birthday!
Over Covid, I had heard all about Five Guys from a really good friend. She excitedly told me many details about the food there and how it was such a treat for her to go there.
“When my family asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday, I said Five Guys,” said my Oakville friend.
I was intrigued. A burger place so good that folks choose it for a birthday celebration?
This I have to see.
So the next chance I got, I headed to 5 Guys in Burlington, Ontario. I bought a cheeseburger, an order of fries and a vanilla milkshake.
The Burgers Made the Same Way Everytime
First, let’s talk about the fantastic burgers.
I watched as Rob, the Manager at Five Guys, made the burgers a certain way.
First, he put lettuce, relish, onions, pickles and tomato on the top bun. Then, on the bottom bun, sauce and mushrooms. Options like jalapenos, green peppers or bacon also go on the side of the bottom bun.
Once the patty is ready, it goes straight from the grill to the middle of this masterpiece.
The burgers at Five Guys are not tightly packed and neat. Instead, they look as if they’ve been smashed onto the grill. The result is a less dense mouthwatering burger.
“I like how the burgers are consistent,” no matter when I go, they’re always good,” said “Betty.” “It’s a dependable burger.”
They are Generous with their Amazing Fries
The fries are cut fresh and cooked twice in peanut oil.
Rumour has it that at Five Guys, “they give you the container full of fries, and then they add a scoop on top in your take-out bag.”,
It was true! Fries were literally poured in after the fries container was seated into the bag.
The Creamy Milkshakes
I had heard all about the milkshakes at Five Guys. The milkshakes there are made with real whipped cream. This makes the shake light and creamy. I tasted it, and it was decadent.
Five Guys are very creative with the flavours of the milkshakes as well. They had Bacon, Banana, Oreo Cookie, Salted Caramel, Reese’s Cups and more at this particular location!
Overall Great Experience
The burgers are the perfect density. The patties are a decent size and cooked through – not soft inside and hard on the outside. I really loved the crispy fries. They were better than what you’d get at a chip stand. I loved the thick milkshake, although I wished I had seen the bacon option before I ordered. I’m going to have to come back and try that someday.
Five Guys is more expensive than your average fast food burger joint; however, you may find the customization of your burger, the suburb fries, and the variety of milkshake options make this your new favourite place.

One thing to note, if you are in the Burlington location, it’s on the outside of the mall, near Chapters. Do not look for Five Guys inside the Burlington Mall like I did!
