Many have walked 16 Mile Creek Trail and noticed an adjoining trail to the east halfway through the trail. If you're like me, you thought, "I wonder where that leads?" And so I'd like to introduce you to Shannon's Creek Trail.

The Little Known Trail Called Shannon's Creek in Oakville

Many have walked 16 Mile Creek Trail and noticed an adjoining trail to the east halfway through the trail. If you’re like me, you thought, “I wonder where that leads?” And so I’d like to introduce you to Shannon’s Creek Trail.

First thing you gotta know is that there are two Shannon’s Creek Trails! I discovered that the one on AllTrails is not the same as the one on Trailforks. One is Shannon’s Creek North, and the other is Shannon’s Creek Trail South. These two trails do not connect.

SHANNON'S CREEK TRAIL NORTH

Shannon’s Creek North is a nice 4km trail and is considered an easy route. You could walk or bike on this trail. You’ll find this trail north of Dundas, close to Neyagawa.

Many reviewers describe seeing small forest animals while walking along this trail. And as you can see on the map, the backyards of houses are visible on the south side of the trail. But if the houses are ok with you, this trail is a fun 45 min there and back kind of walk.

SHANNON'S CREEK TRAIL SOUTH

Shannon’s Creek South as depicted in Trailforks is only 1.2km; however, if you look closely at the map, you can see it connects to the beautiful 16 Mile Creek Trail, so there is plenty of opportunity to extend your walk.

Canada Sky, who filmed Shannon’s Creek Trail (below), started from Upper Middle Rd. and walked through Shannon’s Creek Trail South. What I like about this trail is how you can completely escape the town business and traffic without taking a long drive to get away.

Shannon’s Creek Trail, both north and south, is a great way to escape the town within the town. The trails are easy and accessible and a great way to spend a bit of time in the forest.
