🐶 Dog Park Extraordinaire🐩

Shell Park Oakville

The Active Parent website describes this park as having “something for everyone,” and I’d agree. This beautiful park is on the north side of Lake Shore Rd on the west side of Oakville.

The entire park is an incredible 50 acres, and inside is a playground, a skate park and a dog park.

The dog park is probably the largest and most beautiful in the area. There is ample room to throw a ball or walk around the track. Owners there socialize as their dogs exhaust themselves chasing each other over the wide-open grass. Given that my throwing arm is, well, not as accurate as I’d like; I enjoy the feeling of safety when my dogs misdirected rubber ball lands within the perimeter nonetheless.

Shell dog park also has:

a second pen for smaller dogs
water tap for summer months
a little shelter for the dog parents on those colder, windier days.
bathrooms

WHAT ELSE?

While there, I snapped photos of the colourful skate park full of creative graffiti. I could imagine this would be a favourite among skateboarders not only because it looks “cool” but also because of it’s size and variety of ramps and curves.

There is a decent children’s park that is brightly coloured and has everything a child needs to climb, slide and swing. (credit for the picture of the playground above comes goes to Active Parents since I forgot to take this picture when I was there!).

One important note: there is also a Shell Park South which is a beach along the waterfront just across the road. The Map App on my phone displayed Shell Park South when I was looking for directions; however, other maps such as Google Maps did indicate Shell Park on the north side which is the one I’m describing here.
