Joshua's Creek Trail
Look up, waaaay up and you’ll see the tops of the trees at Joshua’s Creek Trail. Trust me, if you’re on the hunt for a picturesque outdoor adventure look no further than Joshua’s Creek Trail. This gem of a trail in Ontario, Canada, promises a delightful journey through nature’s finest without the need for compasses or wilderness survival skills.
The Basics: I embarked on this trail following the trusty guidance of AllTrails.com. The path I chose was a 5.8-kilometer beauty, but don’t let the estimated 1-hour-8-minute completion time fool you. Unless you’re secretly a forest ninja, I recommend budgeting an extra 30 minutes, especially if you’re planning to channel your inner George Hunter with some photo stops.
My Adventure: My excursion led me on a 4.5-kilometer round trip (1hr 11mins), not quite conquering the entire trail on foot this time. What immediately caught my eye were the mature forest canopies that embraced the path, creating a soothing tunnel of greenery. You start with woodchips beneath your feet until you reach Brookmill Rd. The trail then becomes a really nice and wide dirt path. After that, it’s a smooth sailing paved road.
P.S. Check out the vibrant leaves floating in the water. They’re the real show-stoppers here!
The Scenic Route: But what really sets Joshua’s Creek Trail apart is its jaw-dropping scenery. On one side, you’ll be treated to cliffs, and on the other, a tranquil ravine. It’s nature’s way of showing off, and who are we to complain?
From this trail, you can get to Joshua’s Valley Park which I discovered from Trail Forks is a great place to go especially for Mountain Bikers.
“Mountain bikers local to the area had created a bunch of trails branching out from the south end of the park for people to enjoy, develop their skills and become better riders. These lines centred around the natural dirt “half-pipe”.”
The Grand Finale: And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the trail rewards you with a sweet surprise at the end – the sparkling waters of Lake Ontario. Trust me, I tried driving to this scenic endpoint only to find “no parking” and “no stopping” signs galore. It turns out, the only way to reach this waterfront wonderland is on foot. But, let me tell you, it’s well worth the stroll, especially on a sun-soaked day. Benches invite you to take a load off and soak in the serene views.
So, if you’re up for a simple and sensational adventure, Joshua’s Creek Trail is calling your name. Bring your camera, and let nature do the talking. You won’t regret it!
