Dog Parks that Aren't Muddy Right Now
My next project is to check out our dog parks for the least muddy and most pleasant. I’ve been to Glenashton Park in Oakville. This off-leash area is long, narrow, and divided into two fenced areas.
They getĀ wood chipsĀ to cover the ground to keep the mud down. What’s unique about this park is that one of the frequenters happens to be quite a carpenter hobbyist; he constructed aĀ partial shelterĀ and amazingly comfortableĀ wooden benches. At this time of year, I recommend youĀ bring a towel or cushionĀ if you plan to sit down.
- lots ofĀ parkingĀ here, and it’s right in front of the dog park
- closest washrooms are at the nearby community centre
- water tap (for the summer)
You want to go to the park while other folks are there. The people at 8th Line park are friendly and fun. There were lots of playful dogs.
I once frequented this park in the morning and loved chatting with the “regulars” who went there. But recently, when I arrive at random times throughout the day, such as 2pm or so, I find few people or no one at all.
However, it’s a win/win for my dog, since she loves to chase the ball as much as she loves to chase other dogs.
This dog park isĀ busiest from 8:30am -11:30amĀ and again aroundĀ 3pm to 4:30pmĀ during the week and on weekends as well as after dinner.
8th Line K9’s also have a members only FB Group which is a fun place to share cute doggie photos as well as relevant park information.
